Here is the recipe to cook the
"crostino pizzaiolo"

The "crostino pizzaiolo" isn't a very well-known dish from Friuli Venezia Giulia, but it is very particular and tasty. I suggest you try it!!


The main ingredients to prepare it are:

  1. 4 mature tomatoes
  2. 2 white cheeses (about 300 grams)
  3. salt
  4. oregano

  • First of all, cut the tomatoes in thin pieces, put them in a pan with two teaspoons of oil and let them brown for a short time.
  • At the same time, cut the mozzarella in cubes and slice the bread in pieces of 1cm.
  • Put the pieces of bread in a roasting pan and then let them brown in the oven for about 6 minutes; afterwards take them out and let them cool.
  • Then pour a drop of oil on the pieces of bread, put on the tomatoes, the cut mozzarella and put them back in the oven.
  • Wait a short time till the mozzarella melts; afterwards take the pieces of bread out of the oven and add a little salt and oregano.
